Travelling to and around Corsica

By sky, by sea
On the train or by bus

[Desjobert Photo]

On this page, we'll tell you about the various ways to get to Corsica and visit the island.

Ferry Companies

Several ferry companies make the trip from France or Italy.  Because of its proximity to Italy, the port of Bastia handles about two thirds of the island's martime traffic.  About one fourth of tourists arrive in Ajaccio. Other ports on the island include Calvi, Ile-Rousse, Bonifacio and Propriano.

Air Traffic

There are four airports on the island.
In Ajaccio, the Campo dell Oro Airport welcomes 40% of all passengers, while Poretta Airport, in Bastia, handles around 30%.  The remaining 30% arrive at Calvi and Figari.

The Train

If you're already in Corsica, what better way to tour the island than by train? Catch the  Trinighellu, Corsica's own little train!

Buses

A number of bus connections, especially during the summer, provide service all over Corsica.  The Tourist Information Bureaus provide the most current and exhaustive information.
